The other day I was meditating on my life. I asked, what is my goal? What is my aim? I quieted my mind waiting for the answer. After some silence the answer fills my mind, "To be happy, something you must have forgotten". I laughed at the truth in answer, and soon I found myself scribbling every word that came to mind.
I feel like we do everything in the end, just to be happy. I think we all want to have a good time and enjoy life, but somewhere down the line we were taught sometimes happiness needs to be sacrificed. "Sometimes you have to do things you don't want to". Everyone has heard their mom say it! You know it! Maybe I disagree, and so what if I do? I see that everything we do is to obtain happiness. Happiness to me is a state of being, a perspective, a very loving one. I don't think a person's life situation (job, money, relationship) is what determines their happiness, but a persons happiness that determines their life situation. All I'm asking is why are we sacrificing happiness to be happy? Why are we o biding to this "I have to" feeling? We could choose differently to stay in harmony with who we want to be. Having to do something, having to be something, you don't want to is always preceded by choosing that, directly or indirectly with our thoughts. Just like when you go to an ice cream shop, their are tons of different flavors, so to does life have many flavors. I think we should start choosing the flavor that makes us happy in life. Maybe you don't have the money for what you want, or you just can't see how you can get it. This is the perfect chance to be happy without attachment to an object or action. To just be happy with what you have. I want people to stop feeling enslaved by their life situation because I believe they are the creator of it. Choose happiness, after all we are doing this to be happy, or are you? : D Life isn't carved in stone until you take the carving tool of choice and put it there. Choose higher! Choose Happiness!
Love,
Dave
